Ed for Model Number DBSR453GBOWW ( part WE4M271 ) Dryer will not start. When checking panel parts all are good but on the timer we get no readings (should be 2000-3000 ohms) when running a test. According to our info that means the timer unit needs to be replaced. Does this make sense? Would replacing the timer unit be enough to get the dryer running again?
Answer Hi Ed. The timer part # WE4M271 is the "heart" of the unit. If you take the start Switch part # WE4X881 brown and the red wires wire and momentarily jump them together, then try to start the unit and it starts then the switch is bad. If the door switch does not work the unit will not start either. The brn/ Yellow and the white wire. You can jump these 2-wires together same as above to see if this will allow it to start. One at a time jumped together to see if they are a possibility before the timer change out. There is a hi- limit thermal fuse on the rear heater diffuser assy., On the front at the lower area. Part # WE4M182. Temp. jump these wires together to see if it comes on now. There is another hi-limit thermostat fuse Part # WE4M80 above the rear wall area may need checked also. They all need to normally be closed. If anyone of the fuses are open, then you need to check for a restricted vent system and make sure the outside vent cap is opening and closing so the rain or the night dampness dont get back into the vent.
