Part Number: OEM17364666
Manufacturer Part Number: WE4M532

The Dryer Timer is an OEM part for GE dryers. It controls the duration of the drying cycles by regulating the flow of electricity to the dryer’s motor and heating element. The timer ensures that clothes are dried for the correct amount of time based on the selected cycle, contributing to efficient and effective drying.

Causes of a bad dryer timer can include electrical failures, wear and tear from frequent use, or internal mechanical issues. A malfunctioning timer can result in improper drying times and affect the performance and efficiency of the dryer.

Symptoms of a bad dryer timer include:

  • Dryer not starting or stopping at the correct times
  • Dryer running continuously or not advancing through cycles
  • Inconsistent drying results
  • No clicking sound from the timer during operation

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Answer

J, If the unit is not starting at all you will first want to check the door switch WE4M415. When testing you will check for continuity with the door closed. If there is no continuity then the door switch is bad and needs to be replaced. If the door switch checks ok then you will need to check the thermal fuse WE4M137 on the blower housing. If the thermal fuse does not have continuity then it needs to be replaced. If the thermal fuse checks ok then you want to check the interlock switch WD21X10261. This is down by the motor and would have continuity with the button pushed in. If no continuity then it would also need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
