The Dryer Timer is an OEM part for GE dryers. It controls the duration of the drying cycles by regulating the flow of electricity to the dryer’s motor and heating element. The timer ensures that clothes are dried for the correct amount of time based on the selected cycle, contributing to efficient and effective drying.

Causes of a bad dryer timer can include electrical failures, wear and tear from frequent use, or internal mechanical issues. A malfunctioning timer can result in improper drying times and affect the performance and efficiency of the dryer.

Symptoms of a bad dryer timer include:

  • Dryer not starting or stopping at the correct times
  • Dryer running continuously or not advancing through cycles
  • Inconsistent drying results
  • No clicking sound from the timer during operation

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Dryer Timer (Part Number: OEM17364666)

Tim for Model Number DBXR453ET2WW

GE dryer model DBXR453ET2WW Timer no longer functions - knob spins normally by hand, I assume the motor is toast.. Dryer operates but no heat (breaker is not tripped/half tripped). Could the timer be the cause of no heat or would I be looking at replacing a thermostat and/or heating element as well? Is it possible to test continuity in the element and thermostat from the panel or will I need to disassemble the dryer and check them directly/individually? Thank you for your time.

Tim, it would be recommended that the voltage supply is tested as there should be 240VAC at the terminal block where the power cord connects into the dryer. If there is 240VAC, the power cord can be unplugged and the timer accessed. The heating circuit can be tested somewhat to identify if there is a break in the outlet and safety thermostats. With the timer set to a normal heat cycle, the timer would be tested from terminal B to terminal A for continuity as there should be for L1 voltage to go to the element. If there is continuity, test the orange wire at the timer for continuity to the purple wire at the selector switch. If there is continuity, the safety thermostat and the high-temperature outlet thermostat are good. The purple wire would then be tested to the white wire on the selector switch for continuity to identify if the low heat drum outlet thermostat is good (there should be continuity). The inlet thermostat (tested for continuity) and the heating element (tested for resistance) would need to be tested directly to identify if they are operable.

Neal, According to the manufacturer, this would be the correct timer for the unit. Make sure that the terminals that are missing are not a piggy back connection that has 2 wires attached to each.

Sandra for Model Number DHDSR46EG0WW

I bought a replacement timer for my GE dryer DHDSR46EG0WW. The new timer does not have a spot for the green wire. The original timer has a spot on the metal frame for a green wire which then attaches to the dryer with a screw. I can't find anywhere to attach this green wire to the new timer. The new timer model that I ordered is tmd1em03. Do the new timers not include a spot for the green wire? If I replace with the new timer, what should I do with the existing green wire?
