Tim February 08, 2022 for Model Number DBXR453ET2WW GE dryer model DBXR453ET2WW Timer no longer functions - knob spins normally by hand, I assume the motor is toast.. Dryer operates but no heat (breaker is not tripped/half tripped). Could the timer be the cause of no heat or would I be looking at replacing a thermostat and/or heating element as well? Is it possible to test continuity in the element and thermostat from the panel or will I need to disassemble the dryer and check them directly/individually? Thank you for your time.
1 Answer Tim, it would be recommended that the voltage supply is tested as there should be 240VAC at the terminal block where the power cord connects into the dryer. If there is 240VAC, the power cord can be unplugged and the timer accessed. The heating circuit can be tested somewhat to identify if there is a break in the outlet and safety thermostats. With the timer set to a normal heat cycle, the timer would be tested from terminal B to terminal A for continuity as there should be for L1 voltage to go to the element. If there is continuity, test the orange wire at the timer for continuity to the purple wire at the selector switch. If there is continuity, the safety thermostat and the high-temperature outlet thermostat are good. The purple wire would then be tested to the white wire on the selector switch for continuity to identify if the low heat drum outlet thermostat is good (there should be continuity). The inlet thermostat (tested for continuity) and the heating element (tested for resistance) would need to be tested directly to identify if they are operable. Read More...
Neal November 09, 2021 for Model Number DBXR463GG1WW I ordered a new timer for this model of GE dryer. It called for part number WE04X20415. I received the part with this part number on the box. The timer looks the same except there are two terminal connections missing in the lower right corner that are on the original timer with wires connected. Did I get sent the wrong timer?
1 Answer Neal, According to the manufacturer, this would be the correct timer for the unit. Make sure that the terminals that are missing are not a piggy back connection that has 2 wires attached to each. Read More...
Sandra March 11, 2021 for Model Number DHDSR46EG0WW I bought a replacement timer for my GE dryer DHDSR46EG0WW. The new timer does not have a spot for the green wire. The original timer has a spot on the metal frame for a green wire which then attaches to the dryer with a screw. I can't find anywhere to attach this green wire to the new timer. The new timer model that I ordered is tmd1em03. Do the new timers not include a spot for the green wire? If I replace with the new timer, what should I do with the existing green wire?
1 Answer Sandra, This is a service replacement timer and the ground tab is no longer used. Read More...
Peter February 02, 2021 for Model Number HTDX100ED3WW I've broken three timer knobs on my Hotpoint dryer. One was replaced by APP under the warranty, but why are they breaking? The plastic "D" cracks along the sides even though the metallic clip insert is in place. Would the timer drag cause this? What is you suggestion?
1 Answer Peter, if the timer WE4M532 is difficult to turn or has excessive tension, it can cause strain on the timer knob and cause it to crack. Read More...

Anthony September 22, 2019 I installed a new dryer timer. I disconnected the wires from the old timer and connected them to the new timer one by one. My dryer still will not start. Do you think that the part is defective or could it be something else? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
1 Answer Anthony, You will want to test the door switch and the belt switch on the unit to make sure that both are good. There may also be a thermal fuse that is faulty. Read More...
