R.B. for Model Number GDTP220EF3WW My dryer model is GDTP220EF3WW. It won't start. The timer does not make any ticking noises (is it supposed to tick when the dryer is plugged in?) I have tested the door switch (the switch clicks on/off and the light goes on/off). Based on a video, I did a continuity test on the brown wires between the switch and the timer, to test the heat limit switch, which came out good. I similarly tested the start switch, which also came out good. So the problem seems to be pointing to a bad timer. However, before I order a new timer (part we4m533), are there some ways I can test it to be certain it is bad? I have a digital multimeter, and I can do simple continuity testing, but anything beyond that I would need specific instructions on which settings to use on the multimeter. Can I jump some wires to make sure it is the timer thats bad and not the dryer motor? Thank you in advance for all your help!
Answer R.B., You could check at the motor to make sure that there is 120 vac getting to it when the start button is pushed. Also check the belt switch located by the idler pulley to make sure that it is not bad. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, July 17, 2017
