Marvin Schmidt for Model Number GTDP220EF3WW I bought the drum bearing and 4 front slide bearings. The drum has been rubbing inside the dryer, so I replaced the bearings. That did not do any good - still noisey. when I examined the installed drum, with the top panel removed, I find the the drum sits abour 1/2'" cocked to the right. The left front drum surface is dragging on the inside of the cabinet. Unfortunately this has gone on for a while, anbd the two positioning surfaces on the door panel have been cut through. I cannot find any way to straighten out the durm so it runs true and doesn't scrape the in side of the cabinet. Do you have any suggestions? What would cause this? Thanks, Marv Schmidt
Answer Marvin, To be that far out of line, something would need to be bent or distorted. You may want to start by checking the base and the rear panel for dents dings and scratches then check the feet to insure they're properly leveled and on solid flooring. Check the heater assembly and make sure it is mounted to the rear panel properly, then the front panel and the front tub support and top bearing to make sure they're straight and mounted properly.
