Steve for Model Number RS2555SW / XAA

Ice maker went out. Ordering a new one I have questions about AP4172188 and AP4326210. I removed my current ice machine and it most closely resembles the AP4172188. However, my current tray makes 10 small cubes and the AP4172188 makes 6 large cubes...twice as large as my current tray. I'm worried the large cubes will get stuck in the ice dispenser and that the when I try to dispense crushed ice the dispenser will "choke" on the large cubes. I've always had a problem getting ice to come out (cubed or crushed) even with the small cubes...they seem to jam in the dispenser. I'm worried the large cubes will just compound the problem. When I opened a chat session with your customer service department, they told me the correct part is the AP4326210 which seems to include a different style of of mounting hardware for the ice maker unit. Please advise if the large cubes will dispense and crush properly with my current ice dispenser / crusher and which part I should order. Thank you.

Answer

Hi Steve. The correct ice maker for your unit is part # DA97-00258C. If your freezer is not too cold(-2°) then you should not have any issues with the chute... It's kind of complicated to make the adjustment, only 2 ice levels are available - 85cc fill and 95cc fill, Initially the unit comes set for the 85cc fill and would have needed to be increased to be on the high setting..Press and hold "Freezer" button and "Power cool" (the middle button on left, and upper on right) - hold them simultaneously for 12 seconds, and the control will enter an adjustment mode. The displays on the left side will show a code, and the display on the right will show a reference or adjustment segment. You want the number on the right to display "2" (one of the r/h keys will cause the number to change), once it shows "2" - the work the l/h keys to make the left display number show "0". Once you have these numbers displayed, do not input anymore and 20 or 30 seconds later, the control will store the setting and go back to normal display mode. So adjust to a small cube so it will go through the chute properly. Thank You.
