Jaime43 for Model Number RFG293HARS/XAA-0001

Before replacing the temp sensor, I got a USB data logger that takes temp once every 5 mins. I put it in the freezer for about 2 weeks of which about 10 days we were gone. The log shows defrost cycles about once per day (temp goes to about 20F). With the freezer set to -4F, the lowest readings when we were home are 0F. When gone, the lowest readings were -7F, but the ambient temp was also about 7 degrees lower (turned down house heat). Wouldn't this indicate low refrigerant vs broken sensor?

Answer

Hello Jaime43, These are average temperature readings that do not appear unusual because of the operating characteristics of the sealed system during normal usage and a "no door opening" operation. The room temperature will also, as stated, affect the normal operation. A Freon loss would cause the unit to warm up and not cool back down. If you could please provide a more detailed problem description, we will do anything we can to assist in unit diagnosis.
