Tim Roth for Model Number RF28HFEDTSR/AA My freezer was not cooling properly. No ice being produced by bottom ice maker and food thawing. Tech came out and replaced compressor (sealed system fix). After one week only two trays of ice were produced and they melted. Tech came back out and replaced compressor again. He noticed first replacement was not working hard, same with second compressor. Its as if the freezer is signaling the compressor that no cooling is required. He tried the forced method and it cooled but not properly. Panel on front says 0 degrees in freezer but if I reset (unplug) the true temp is displayed as 18 to 28 degrees. I think the Ice will not harvest unless the temp is low (5 degrees?) is there a sensor that may not be working properly in freezer compartment?
Answer Tim, The sensor would most likely not cause this issue. It would be recommended to check the frost pattern on the evaporator coils in the freezer and make sure that they have a full even frost pattern. This issue sounds like a fan may not be running, the unit not going into defrost something other than a sealed system type of issue. Read More...
