Ralph for Model Number RF28HFEDBSR/AA

Hi, We had to shut down the refrigerator for one day so, it could make ice again as we read in a web site. After we turned up, the freezer temp goes to 0 but the refrigerator does not go under 58 F when we set it up to 40 F... There is a temp sensor on the top of the left door and I was wondering if it is broken... I put the sensor in a glass with cold water and the temp in the display did not change... We put a thermometer inside the refrigerator and the temp matches the display... What it could be? Thanks, Ralph

Answer

Ralph, you may want to inspect the evaporator section for what kind of frost pattern there is as well as ensuring that the fan DA81-06013A is operating. With the door switch engaged, the fan should be receiving 12VDC for operation. If it is receiving 12VDC and not rotating, then the fan has failed. The fact that the display is indicating the correct temperature that is measured with a thermometer indicates that the cabin thermistors are good.
