Don for Model Number Kitchenaid KGST307HBL5 My oven says 350 degrees on the display, but when check it with a temp gun the temp gun says 225 for the actual oven temperature. It shuts off the flame like it "thinks" that it is at 350. I pulled the temp probe and it reads 1073 ohms at room temperature. I heat it to 350 and it reads only 1300 ohms, not 1600 ohms as stated that it should here. That would seem to confirm a bad temp probe, but isn't a low resistance reading at 350 degrees the opposite of what I should expect for this condition? I assume that the control board is unavailable so I don't want to go $62 plus tax and shipping into a dead end. Thanks.
Answer Don, It would be recommended to check the sensor probe at the control board that way the wires are being tested as well. If the sensor checks ok, which sounds like it would be ok then the issue would most likely be the control board. The part number for the control board would be 9781980 and you can sent off to see about having the part rebuilt if necessary. Read More...
