Bob G for Model Number Kenmore 106.59702990 (side by side; mfg date Jan 2000) My diffuser needed replacement and I purchased a WP2209751. It came in a Whirlpool box but the part doesn't fit. The depth of the styro insert between refrig and freezer is different than the factory unit that I removed. Hence the 4 clips don't reach into the freezer wall to hold the unit in place. Has this part been changed and I'm screwed? Is there another part # I should order? Thanks in advance for your help.
Answer Bob, You did not receive the wrong diffuser for your unit. The way that they make the diffuser there is a seal on the side that meets up with the refrigerator side liner that causes it to seem like it is off and will not clip on the freezer side. The way that you have to get this in is to push on the back part of the diffuser really hard while reaching into the freezer section and pushing the clips into place.
