Marcel Bosch for Model Number Whirlpool FRSS2VAF20

Hi, My fridge Whirlpool FRSS2VAF20 is not getting cold enough. The fan is working in the freezer. After i disconnect and wait 8 hours and startup again all works. I get cold air inside the fridge but after around 5 days it stops blowing cold air where i see and know the ventilator is working in the freezer. The Air Diffuser is open but there is no cold air coming in the fridge. I changed the Thermal Cut Off Bi Metal Thermostat for a new one but with the same result. After 5 days the freezer is cold but not blowing cold air into the fridge. The fan is working normally. What could be the problem ? My first feeling is that the defrost system does not work as it must work and remove all ice from the fridge ? Hope somebody knows this problem and how to check the real problem. Thanks

Answer

Marcel, Unfortunately, we have no parts or service information for Whirlpool "export" refrigerators, But, you are on track, you most likely have a defrost issue. We don't have the technical information to test the defrost components or advise you properly. In general, if the defrost cycle does not occur in the specified amount of time, ice will develop on the evaporator and reduce or eliminate the air movement over the evaporator and the refrigerator compartment won't cool properly. when the ice is eliminated(when you remove power to the refrigerator) and the ice melts, when you reapply power the refrigerator will cool, until the evaporator is clogged with ice again. You'll need to check the defrost heater for the proper circuitry(closed circuit at room temp.), check for any loose or broken wires, then check or replace the defrost timer or control board to establish the power to the defrost heater circuit. Thanks,
