Customer Questions and Answers for Refrigerator Air Damper by Whirlpool

Lynn, When you open the refrigerator door, on the upper left side there is a Phillips head screw, remove this screw and take the cover off. Remove the screw holding the damper cover in place and remove this cover. Close the refrigerator door and open the refrigerator door. Remove the cover of the icemaker assembly. Once removed you will then remove the screw on the right hand side of the icemaker underneath. Once removed, lift the cover off. Push in on the flapper on the left side and pull the icemaker assembly out. Disconnect the wire harness. Once the harness is disconnected there will be 2 screws, 1/4" hex head, that holds the duct assembly to the ceiling of the unit. Once you remove these screws then take the duct out and remove the duct that goes into the side of the damper on the rear right wall. You will then open the refrigerator door and from the freezer side, squeeze inward on the corners of the damper assembly to release. Once released pull out from the refrigerator compartment. Disconnect harness and install in reverse.
