Mike for Model Number DU1055XTSS2 Everything seems to work ok, except the dishwasher is extremely loud when the circulator pump comes on. When the circulator pump shuts off, it sounds like its siezes up. I checked and cleaned the chopper screen. The screen was partially clogged but I noticed that the chopper blades were worn down, as if it was rubbing against something (the screen maybe?). The rest of the components attached to the chopper (spring and nylon coupler) appear to be ok. When I reassyembled the chopper, the nylon end slides onto the impeller in a way that it will spin, but it doesn't snap into place(It sits loosely coupled). Would this be causing the loud noise? or do you think its motor bearing?
Answer Mike, The chopper assembly W10083957V is "spring loaded" and can be forced to jump the drive teeth on the wash impeller 8193951A , but Based on your description, You'll need to remove the motor assembly and check the wash impeller and housing for debris and damage.
