Joan for Model Number maytagSE1000 Ring broke- taped it back on work for small load then leaked. Was looking for a new machine as this is 1991 and what will break next. reviews aren't good on laundry centers. So am going to order ring. should I put new seal on and if I do do I take old seal off. Looks like it is on there!!
Answer Joan, It's not likely you'll need to tub cover seal WP211232 , it's a good idea to mark the cover where the gasket is located on the tub cover, take the gasket and soak it in hot water and wash it off with a rag. Make sure you position the tub cover properly(there should be a 9/16 to 5/8 inch gap between the tub cover and the top of the wash basket, or the washer won't spin, and tighten the two tub clamp screws evenly.
