By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18032031
Manufacturer Part Number: WP71001799

This is an oven control board and clock manufactured by Whirlpool. It allows the user to adjust temperature, change oven function, set timers, and more. While the control board is designed to be durable, it can fail over time through exposure to moisture or high temperatures. When the oven control board begins to fail, it will not respond to user input, or may respond incorrectly. Replacing the control board is the only option to restore functionality. To replace it, turn off the power or unplug the oven. Remove the four screws holding the control board in place and disconnect the wires. Install the new board by following these steps in reverse. This is a genuine OEM part. It is sold individually, and fits Whirlpool, Roper, and Amana branded ovens.

Swashington for Model Number SVE47600W

For several years now the oven functioned perfectly and all the buttons on the console beep when pressed, but there is no display of time or temperature. About two months ago I replaced the oven control assembly and the display started working just fine (the only glitch was that there is no longer a beep when pressing the Fan button). However, 4 days ago the display went out again. The oven continues to function prior to the oven control assembly replacement -- meaning the buttons beep when pressed (with the exception of the fan button), but there is no display. Before I purchase another oven control assembly (on the assumption that the first one was a lemon), is there something else that might be going wrong here which is causing the clock to fail?

Answer

SWashington, Yes, there is another check to make before you replace a control board unnecessarily. You'll need a multimeter with a VDC setting. You'll need to access the back of the clock and disconnect the J1 connector from the clock, re apply power and check for 12 VDC across pin 1 and pin 2, and 20 VAC across pin 3 and pin 4 of the wire harness connector, If you have the voltage, then replace the control WP71001799. If the voltage is low, irratic, or not present, you'll need to check the J1 wire harness for loose connections, twists, kinks, etc. then replace the main relay board W10757086 on the back of the range. Thanks
