By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18032031
Manufacturer Part Number: WP71001799

This is an oven control board and clock manufactured by Whirlpool. It allows the user to adjust temperature, change oven function, set timers, and more. While the control board is designed to be durable, it can fail over time through exposure to moisture or high temperatures. When the oven control board begins to fail, it will not respond to user input, or may respond incorrectly. Replacing the control board is the only option to restore functionality. To replace it, turn off the power or unplug the oven. Remove the four screws holding the control board in place and disconnect the wires. Install the new board by following these steps in reverse. This is a genuine OEM part. It is sold individually, and fits Whirlpool, Roper, and Amana branded ovens.

Mike S. for Model Number SCE30600B

Clock went a couple yrs ago, I replace capacitor and its been fine. Surge blew out PC board, I soldered on a jumper, worked fine for a yr or so. Last several months oven has been intermittent getting hot. cleaned relays on board, will heat up intermittently (rarely). Now Cancel/ off inop. I got a new relay board. Still no cancel/off but heats up fine, also, now the cool fan does not come on when the oven reaches 200. Summary: Old relay board- no heat, no cancel, yes fan. New relay board- yes heat, no cancel, no fan. Are both relay boards bad? Could it be the ECR/clock?

Answer

Mike, There is a slight possibility of a fault in the relay board, but not likely at this point. but the cooling fan and cancel/off issue could be due to the ERC/Clock WP71001799 and keypad assembly WP71002233.Your first check needs to be at the J2 wire harnwess(the wires between the ERC and the relay board) make sure there are no loose connections at either end, or twists, kinks or damage to the wires. The cooling fan is operating properly at this point, it shouldn't come on until the oven has been at approx. 400-450 dgrs for an extended period( an easy check in the self clean cycle, the cooling fan will come on in a few minutes after programmed, broil will do the same). If the harness is OK, you'll need the control panel to solve the cancel/off issue.
