David for Model Number ED5RHEXNL03 I have a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator. Neither the freezer or refrigerator get cold. I have replaced the compressor start relay, part number 8201786, but that did not help. The compressor run continuously, and gets hot to the touch. The fan is operating correctly, and I can feel air being blowed into the freezer compartment, just warm air. Could the compressor be bad, or is there something else I can check? Thanks in advance!!
Answer David, Have you removed the rear wall of the freezer compartment and checked for frost/ice on the evaporator coil, Did you check the thermostat wiring or the heater element for voltge, when the compressor is running ? You may have a faulty defrost timer or circuit 4388932 , causing the defrost heater to energize and the fridge would be trying to cool and defrost at the same time. Read More...
