Ferd March 18, 2020 for Model Number ED5PHAX My side by side Whirlpool has started cycling on and off a lot. The compressor is running I believe, and the fridge is cooling. Just cycling more than it used to. Could this be caused by the start relay/overload? All the fans appear to be operating and I have made sure the coils are clean. There seems to be adequate airflow inside the box. Thank you.
Lac February 28, 2019 Why after I replace the starter device, my kenmore is not running? There is no motor sound, only the inside on when I open the door. Please help me kenmore model 10656926600 Sincerely
1 Answer LAC, you may want to check the overload protector. If the overload protector failed, it can cause the compressor to not run. The way you would want to test it is by testing from the wire connector to the compressor pin connector for continuity. If the overload does not have continuity, then it has failed. Another issue may be that voltage is not being supplied to the compressor. Read More...
P Norman February 21, 2019 for Model Number 1069557983 How to remove black plastic cover in order to access relay? Light is only working thing on fridge. No fans, no motor and no cool (since power outage).
1 Answer P Norma, if there are no fans running, check the thermostat in the control panel, take a jumper wire and jump across the two terminals to see if it will come on. If it does, replace the thermostat, WP2198202. The black cover on the compressor should pop off with a flat head screw driver, there should be a slot that allows you to pry it off. Read More...
Glen August 20, 2018 for Model Number ED5VHFXV003 Reefer does cool and runs properly but on startup makes a clicking/clunking/rattling sound and draws an excess current. Seems like a contactor bounce. Can you help?
1 Answer Glen, Part # WPW10189190 is the start device and is why you hear the clicking. This part attaches to your compressor and is located in the machine compartment in the back of the unit behind a cover. Read More...
K Lawson October 12, 2017 for Model Number ED2FHGXKQ00 I ordered a new relay but the plugs on my wires do not fit in the slots on the new relay to attach the red and white/black wires. How can I get the right fitting plugs?
1 Answer K Lawson, The the separate overload and relay will use 1/4" female spade connectors to install it. You could use part number TJMA02875-1. Read More...
Daniel September 18, 2017 for Model Number pds22sisalss Lights work in fridge but no action from the compressor. I learned replacing this part is the most common cause. Is this true and if so, is this part compatible with my GE? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Daniel. You will need WR07X10086 and WR08X10061 for the relay overload for your model. Check and make sure the main board is sending power to the compressor from the main board. If not, then the board may be the issue with the unit. Read More...
Daniel July 04, 2017 for Model Number LSC27931ST I have a LG side by side fridge that has a Embraco EGX 90HLC compressor. Will this kit work for that compressor?
Ruby Sky June 20, 2017 for Model Number KitchenAid KSRG22FKSS03 The discrete parts in replacement part #AP3885081 works after install and the refrigerator is running cold again, however I can't get the supplied cover to fit on compressor EGY80 without pinching the white and blue wires connected to the capacitor as shown in the instruction video. There are no cutouts for these wires like there are for the red and green wires. I saw sparks coming from the starting device when I initially turned on the refrigerator after installing the discrete parts without the cover and concerned of a fire hazard. Do I need the cover and is it safe to leave the cover off for my appliance model?
1 Answer Ruby, It is safe to leave the cover off but also the wires would go through the same slot as the red and green wires go through on the cover. Read More...
Connie May 11, 2017 for Model Number 106.51269104 When looking at the videos and instructions, my Kenmore has a black capacitor plugged into the start relay, not wires. The videos all talk about the 2nd start relay for a egy90 compressor. I have a egy80 compressor with a relay and a capactitor. Which do I use?
1 Answer Hello Connie, EGY80 uses part 2188829 for style 1 or 2187145 for style 2. The instructions included with the kit covers this procedure completely. Read More...
Randy April 05, 2017 for Model Number FRS26ZNHB2 I sent a question a little while ago but I think I used the wrong email. I purchased a relay and overload kit 5304410951 and capacitor 218909902. The issue is I'm not sure where the run capacitor connects. The red wire which I think is the hot, goes to the white part terminal (overload), blue goes to # 2 terminal. Not sure how the run capacitor wires in.
1 Answer Hello Randy, You have all of the connections correct. The run capacitor wires will connect to the relay on terminals 1 and 3. If the relay has no terminal 1, that wire will share terminal 2 with the blue wire. This can be accomplished with a piggyback terminal TJMA02896-1, (be sure to insulate with electrical tape so the terminal cannot short to anything). Read More...
