Amos A for Model Number GD5SHAXLQ02 I have a whirlpool gold side by side. The starter burned out on the side of the compressor (EGY90HLP). The model number of the starter is 4SP1001 2212194. The kind that is a small white box on a brown box. It has three spade terminals, two on top (one for a white lead that also goes to capacitor, the other the blue lead to the capacitor) and one on the bottom for the hot lead. The compressor has three pins, two on top and one on the bottom that plug into the starter, or rather plugged into it. The back of the starter is melted and one of the top pins on the compressor is bent down from the heat and has a glob of something (solder) on it. Three questions: Can I straighten the pin without breaking it?...Can I apply heat to the pin to melt the glob off without damaging it?....and how the heck do you rewire one of these new version starters (haven't figured out which one yet) with all the parts to work with this setup?
Answer Amos, With having the glob on the terminal, this is an indication that the start relay welded the contact to the terminal and this would require a new compressor W10309994. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, June 7, 2013
