Bob for Model Number DU1055XTSS3 whirlpool dishwasher Two issues. 1.Unit only goes into potscrubber mode. 2. Now fails to start as if the door switch is not activating. cleaned gunk out of the door switch recess;works intermittently. I suspect the microswitch has gone bad. How do I troubleshoot and replace if needed? Nice clunk when door engages latch.
Answer Bob, You're on the right track, The most likely issue is a faulty circuit in the key pad ribbon circuit of the control panel WPW10021710. When you remove the inner door liner screws (6) to access and replace the the control panel, you'll also have access to the door latch and switch assembly, and can check and clean it further, if necessary "Remove the six (6) screws securing the control panel to the door frame. 2. The control panel will now drop down and be free of the door assembly. The wiring harness will remain connected to the console components. Removing the Electronic Control Board The electronic control board is located inside the console at the top of the dishwasher door. 1. Disconnect the ribbon connector and the wiring harness connectors from the electronic control board. 2. Use a flat bladed screwdriver to depress the holding tabs at the left end of the control board assembly while pulling up. Removing the Door Latch Assembly Release the tabs securing the door latch assembly to the control panel and lift the assembly out. 1. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the microswitch terminals. 2. Pull back on the two (2) plastic retaining tabs securing the microswitches to the door latch assembly and lift the microswitches out." Just remember to remove power to the dishwasher, before you start any repairs. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, February 22, 2013
