By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18044859
Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10084141

The Control Board is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. As the central processing unit, this board regulates all cycles and component functions including wash and rinse settings, heating controls and the digital display.

Symptoms of a failed control board include:

  • Inability to select or change wash/rinse options
  • Cycles failing to complete through all settings
  • Error codes displayed or unresponsive controls

Causes can be normal wear of electronic components over extended use. Exposure to fluctuating internal temperatures may also deteriorate electrical connections over time.

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

Craig for Model Number KUDS02FRSS01

Four of the five cycle type blue LEDs do not illuminate when the button is pressed. Specifically, Heavy Duty, Normal, Light/China and Quick Cleanup do not illuminate. The LED for Rinse Only does come on. I know that the dishwasher runs fine in Normal mode even though the mode LED is not lit. I have not checked the other modes to see if they run correctly. I believe I changed the LED control board a year or so ago and I am not certain if I checked for the cycle mode LEDs? Is there a diagnostic that tells me if there is an actual problem with the dishwasher cycles or just the mode LEDs? Thanks in advance, Craig

Answer

Craig, the diagnostic mode can be entered by pressing the following sequence: heated dry, normal, heated dry, normal. As soon as this is completed, the LED lights should all illuminate. Closing the door will allow the diagnostic cycle to begin. If there are no errors indicated at the end, then the ribbon cable W10850507 will need to be inspected for any signs of a break (after disconnecting power from the dishwasher). If the ribbon cable checks good, then the control panel would be the likely issue.
