Rob for Model Number Maytag Dishwasher MDB4709AWWB

Hi. Thing ran fine Wednesday. Water temp was nice and hot and dishes were perfectly clean. Thursday, wouldn't start. 'Heavy', 'Normal', 'Light', 'HiTemp Wash', 'Heated Dry', 'Sanitize' and 'Lock' all lit up normally as they always have. 'Start', 'Cancel', 'Delay', 'Rinse', and 'Tough Scrub' would not function. Tried cutting power for w30 minutes, no improvement. Ran a diagnostic. All lights came on, and the thing ran thru an abbreviated cycle, bouncing back and forth from rinse to normal. When it stopped, there were no lights on at all. I opened the door, it was nice and hot, the detergent dispenser popped open as it should, and it drained completely. Any idea what is wrong with it? Thank you for your help.

Answer

Rob, There are a couple of possibilities, moisture or condensation could have gotten up in the control panel area, causing the keypad ribbon connection to fail. You may want to remove power to the machine, remove the inner door liner and check for moisture, condensation or water marks inside the control area and door liner. Disconnect the touchpad ribbon from the control board and check for corrosion on the ribbon and pins of the connector, you can claen them up with rubbing alcohol or non-residue contact cleaner.
