James for Model Number DU1055XTVS8

My whirlpool DU1055XTVS8 uses this control board (W10285180) have had different issues and I have already replaced a few parts (since it is 11+ yeas old) already replaced Check Valve and Turbidity Sensor still had issues (although different) It wouldn't always fill up (then sometimes would) and sometimes drain and sometimes not drain.... Replaced Drain Pump seemed to work well for a few weeks, then would not drain at all. Had replacement drain pump sent again, now it is constantly draining, I hear it fill up, but when it starts to agitate, It immediately drains the water, I poured some water in, and it drains again soon as I turn it on. Floater is not stuck. Guessing Control board but that is expensive to try if not sure that is the issue. Professional thought on this? Is it most likely the control board? Thanks in advance.

James, Using the tech sheet packaged with your machine I would start by running the service diagnostics for your machine locating any error codes listed and repair as directed. With the descriptions of the issues you have listed if there are no codes then you would likely have a board issue.

Steven, This issue would most likely be with the control board for the steam light being on and you will want to check to see if there is power to the dispenser in order to activate it. If there is proper power but it is not opening then the dispenser would be the issue and if there is not then the board will be the cause.

The wash cycle lights on the top of the door flash 2 times a second regardless of which button I push. The unit will not start and the cancel light and start light will flash at the same rate and stay lighted for several minutes before going off. Still nothing comes on. I did a hard reset by turning off the breaker and waiting 5 minutes. All the lights were off when I turned the power on again but when I selected "normal cycle" the light started flashing 2 times a second and the washer would not start. Is this a circuit board problem or a door interlock switch. This washer is 12 years old have had no faults up to this point.

1 Answer

Larry, I would suggest checking the door switches first as it sounds like the machine senses and open door.

Daniel for Model Number gu2275xtvy0

I am having a problem where the wash pump does not come on during the wash cycle. I bought a new pump assuming the old pump had gone bad. The new pump does the same thing. Dishwasher fills with water. If I press cancel, it drains. However, the circulation pump does not come on at any point. I accessed the control board and was measuring voltages at different pins. During the wash cycle P8 and P9 both have 120V. This should indicate that the K1 relay is working. P5 also has 120V. As expected, if I trip the door switch, the power is lost. If the wash pump is not the problem, what else could it be. I seem to have power to the motor. I notice in the service manual that there is a 0.45ohm "sense resistor" connected from P5 to P7 (Neutral). What is this and where is this?

1 Answer

Daniel, There is power from the control board but that does not necessarily mean the pump is getting power to it. If you test at the wash motor, check for 120 Vac at this point. If there is not power then you will have a wiring issue. If there is power then you may have received a faulty motor because if there is power to the part but it is not working then the part is bad.

David, No, It's not likely a control board issue. It's more likely to be a problem in the console keypad circuits WPW10175236 / WPW10175236. Since you ran the diagnostics, and reset the control board back to the original factory specifications without any issues, the board is OK.

Hello Mike, If you can not get the control panel buttons to work properly, you will need to order and replace the control panel WPW10254840 on the unit.

Hello Ken, I would check for an issue with the harness WPW10413098 since there are two separate relays on the control for the heating circuit and a high limit thermostat. The possibility of all of the built in safety devices failing at the same time is remote so the harness is a much more likely cause.

Chesney, You will want to check the door switches to make sure that they have continuity with the door closed. If not then the door latch assembly will need to be replaced. If this checks ok then you will want to get the tech sheet from the bottom toe panel and do a keypad test to make sure that the keypad is functioning properly. If the keypad test ok then this will likely be a bad control board.
