Dan for Model Number KCMS1555RSS1 The Kitchen aid microwave oven has a sticking door. I remove the outside cabinet to see what the issue is. It appears that when I push the door opener handle in, it doesn't trigger/release the black door catch enough to open the door. If I gently assist with a fatheaded screw driver, the door opens. It looks like either the door opener need to raise higher to release the door catch or there must be some electronics the engages and releases the door catch. thoughts? Dan
Answer Dan, There are no electronics involved, it's all mechanical. Press on the button, the button engages the WP8205451 door latch bracket, the bracket rises and lifts the bottom of the door latch assembly and the door opens. You're going to need to remove the latch bracket and check for broken or worn out pivot pins on the sides of the bracket, and the pivot area of the control panel frame to see if it has bent or moved over the years of usage.
