Bob C. for Model Number GI1500XHWO 15" Whirlpool floor standing I have replaced the circuit board, the water valve and the water pump. I turned the unit on and it made ice, however after a few cycles of ice, it stopped making ice again. I took a flashlight and looked at the freezing plate and there was a slab of ice with a mound of ice in the middle that is keeping the ice slab from releasing and sliding onto the cutter grid. Whats next for me to do?
Answer Hello Bob, If the holes in the water dispenser stop up with mineral deposits and debris from the water supply, the center holes tend to allow more water to pass that the ends. With this in mind, I believe it's time for you to clean the unit. There is a special cleaner WX08X42870 for these free standing units that prevents damage to the evaporator.
