Brenda for Model Number MER6769BAQ My lower element upper oven did not heat. Ordered a new element from you. Still does not heat. How do I check that the element is good or not before proceeding. Can I return the new element if The old one isn't bad?
Answer Brenda, To test the element(s) you'll need a multi meter TJMA-DM1 to test the resistance of the element. Remove power to the range, remove the racks then remove the element. remove the wires from the element terminals(clip or tie the wires so they don't slip back into the wall opening), Set the meter selector to the resistance Rx1 scale or lowest setting, place the meter leads on the element terminals and you should have a resistance reading of 30-32 ohms. If there is a resistance reading, the element is OK. and you'll need to start looking for a damaged wire or a faulty relay on the control. If the element isn't defective, Yes you can return it.
