Larry October 09, 2017 for Model Number Maytag gemini My top heating element has a bracket that holds the element up. How do I get the replacement element through that bracket? It was easy to get the old one out because it snapped in half but the mounting brackets wont go through the bracket.
1 Answer Hello Larry. You will need to remove the bracket from the unit. Then install both the bracket and element at the same time. Thank you. Read More...
Brenda February 16, 2016 for Model Number MER6769BAQ My lower element upper oven did not heat. Ordered a new element from you. Still does not heat. How do I check that the element is good or not before proceeding. Can I return the new element if The old one isn't bad?
1 Answer Brenda, To test the element(s) you'll need a multi meter TJMA-DM1 to test the resistance of the element. Remove power to the range, remove the racks then remove the element. remove the wires from the element terminals(clip or tie the wires so they don't slip back into the wall opening), Set the meter selector to the resistance Rx1 scale or lowest setting, place the meter leads on the element terminals and you should have a resistance reading of 30-32 ohms. If there is a resistance reading, the element is OK. and you'll need to start looking for a damaged wire or a faulty relay on the control. If the element isn't defective, Yes you can return it. You can return the part using the AppliancePartsPros.com parts order web site, or contact the AppliancePartsPros.com Customer Service Team at 1-877-477-7278 They will be more than happy to assist you. George January 28, 2015 for Model Number MER6770AAC Lower bake element in upper oven isn't working. How can I check whether it is the element or something else? Thanks
1 Answer Hello George, If you access the control board and unplug the orange wire, situate the wire so it can be tested without it contacting anything else, power the unit up and turn on the upper bake, there should be 120Vac on both the terminal you unplugged the wire from and on the wire. If nothing on the terminal, the relay has failed and the clock will have to be replaced. If the voltage is not on the wire, the issue will be the upper bake element. Read More...
Richard D. June 12, 2012 for Model Number Maytag MER6772BAC Ordered part from you for lower (bake) element for upper oven. Replaced today, still does not heat up, though upper element does. Please help.
1 Answer Hello Richard, From past experience, there are two possibilities: The step down transformer 74005456 for the upper oven, or the control panel WP5701M403-60. In this particular instance, since the broil is working, I would first suspect the control. Read More...
Johnny S. June 09, 2012 for Model Number maytag mer6755aas This is a doubble oven and I only have been using the top smaller oven for the past 7 years. Today I turn on the bake button, set to 350 and after 2 or 3 minutes I noticed that the top element was on and the bottom element did not get red or hot. I shut it down and try again and the same thing happened again the bottom did not get hot . Does thes mean the bottom element burned out ? Please respond. Thank You.
1 Answer Hi Johnny. Use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. Remove at least one wire from the element and ohm between the 2 terminals. If you get 0-ohms or infinity(too great of a measurement) then the element part # 74004105 is open. Place the ohm meter to Beep/ohm setting, this will only work at 50 ohms and under. Then check the element terminals one at a time to element mount screws/ground. If you get 0- ohms or an audible steady beep then it is shorted to ground. Disconnect one wire from the element. REMEMBER -THIS WILL BE A LIVE VOLTAGE TEST. Place the meter on the 300 vac scale. Place one meter lead on one end of the element. Then with one lead disconnected, place the meter lead into the terminal end. Use elect. tape around the temporary connection for safety. Then place the clock command for bake and see if after the upper clock bake relay clicks and you should have 240 vac at the meter. If you only have 120 vac then the clock is bad. Make sure you are getting 120 vac to ground from the terminal block lead to the one side of the bake element. If not then inspect the wires / connections from there. If you have the 240 volts. then the element is needing replaced. Thank You. Read More...
