Mad Baker for Model Number MER6755AAB I preheated my lower oven to 490 last nite..once ready, I inserted 2 loaves of dough and threw one cup of water onto floor of oven to generate the steam needed for baking..(have done this for years).. 20 minutes later I opened the oven to find the oven not very hot and the dough barely cooking.... I soon determined that the lower heating element is not heating up...but the oven is getting some level of heat (I assume from top element)...could the water I throw in have damaged the heating element? Also, it was my impression that the top element in each of the 2 ovens is for broiling and the bottom one is for baking...if correct, why does the top one heat up when I am baking??
Answer Hello Mad Baker. You will need to test the element in the unit. It should read closed for continuity. If the element is good, you will need to order and replace the control board in the unit. The water could cause the issue and it is not recommended by the manufacture to cook like this. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
