Carter H. for Model Number MER5770AAW Maytag Oven Range I was disconnecting the Bake element from the front of the unit and discovered that only one side of the element was connected. I took the back off and found the connector on the left side (facing from the front of the oven) was burnt off. So I took the wire off and went to the hardware store to see if I could purchase a new part. I could not get a part and the salesman said the only connectors he had were plastic where it crimps to the wire. He suggested an auto parts store. I did find connectors at the auto store but discovered after purchase they were silver and had plastic around them I tried it and the element did work. Now My question is with the plastic surrounding the connector which is silver, will it melt? Also, I discovered that the new connector was hot to the touch whereas the other connector on the opposite side was cool. Am I using something that is wrong? Please help.
