The Broil Element is an OEM part for Whirlpool ranges. This part provides the intense, direct heat necessary for broiling. This part is located at the top of the oven cavity and is essential for achieving high temperatures needed for tasks like browning and searing.

Causes of a bad broil element can include electrical issues such as short circuits, damage from spills or food debris, and general wear and tear from repeated use.

Symptoms of a bad Broil Element include:

  • The oven not reaching broil temperatures
  • Inconsistent or uneven broiling
  • The element not glowing red when in use
  • Visible signs of damage or burning on the element

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Paul P. for Model Number Maytag Oven CWE4700BCE

First, it is about the electrical broil element, Part AP4283351. Second, it is about the electrical connections to the broil element, specifically about attaching the two wires with the loop on the end (not the push on electrical connectors). These electrical connections attach with a screw. Where do they attach on the replacement electrical broil element that pro appliance parts sent me recently? That is the question I need answered. You responded with “Hello Paul. You are describing the broil element support AP4047846. This part has been discontinued by the manufacture and is no longer available. Hope this helps.” This response missed the question I was asking. Here is my original message from yesterday. Can you help me with my need? “Element, Broil, Part AP4283351. We bought our oven in Oct. 1994. The replacement element I ordered from you has an extra sheet metal brace with a threaded screw hole connecting the middle two of the four rods, near where the wires connect. This is visible on the parts diagram. In the original installation, the two wires with a loop on the end that connect with a screw are both screwed together onto the brass colored connector that is bent at a right angle. Here are my questions. With the replacement element, does one of the wires with the loop on the end screw onto the brass colored connector, as in the original installation, and the second wire with a loop on the end screw into the threaded screw hole on the sheet metal brace connecting the middle two of the four rods? I think this is what I am reading on the instruction sheet, but I am not sure. A diagram would be very helpful here. Or, do both wires with a loop on the end screw onto the brass colored connector that is bent at a right angle as in the original connection? In this case the sheet metal connector for the two middle rods is just there for structural stability. Also, are the two wires with a loop on the end that connect with a screw the ground wires? Any help you can give me would be appreciated.”

Answer

Hello Paul. The red wire goes on brass, tan wire in middle and yellow wire on other side of the element WPY04000048. Hope this helps.
