Kathy March 22, 2015 for Model Number W130 I've removed the boiler element on my W130. Problem is, when I put my ohm meter across the element pairs. One side reads open, not surprising since I see a burn on the element. However when I measure the other side, it reads 36 ohms. There wasn't any heating in the past, but according to this, there should have been this one half of the element working. I think the next step should be to measure the voltage? Or see if there is a lack of voltage on the one half? I'm also surprised to see 3 wires going to one terminal, while the other 3 element ends only had one wire. If anything, I would have thought the extra wires would have all gone to the common/center point. Thank you, Kathy
1 Answer Kathy, If the element is burnt in any location it will not work. The element is like a big loop. Power comes in on one side of the smaller portion and then the other side of 120 will go on to the larger element. When the element turns on it sends power through both sides and they meet in the middle so to speak. You will want to replace the element and this should correct the issue. Read More...
Jim F. October 18, 2014 for Model Number Jenn Air W-130 I've unscrewed the broil element from the back of the oven but cannot figure out how to remove the screw from the ground terminal
1 Answer Hello Jim, If you are referring to a ground to the elements' mounting bracket, this sometimes requires a 90° offset Phillips head screwdriver. If this is not what you mean we need you to repost with more details on where the ground terminal is that you are referring to. Read More...
Joe October 11, 2013 for Model Number Maytag model cwe 4800acb I replaced the broiler element, video very helpful, but broiler still does not work. What else could be wrong. Thanks
1 Answer Joe, You will want to test at the control board from Broil to L2 and see if there is 240 vac present when set for broil. If there is proper voltage then the control WPW10201915 is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Paul Y August 19, 2013 for Model Number 666AJ-ESAW I purchased broiler element Y04000048 for my freestanding Admiral range 666-ESAW. The replacement part is identical to the old one. I see that I can replace the wires in the same positions as they were on the old one. But an instruction sheet that came with the part confuses me. It says: "It is necessary to use the enclosed ground screws (2) for mounting the element to assure a proper ground. The ground wire .... attached to the ground lug of the element is no longer required and should be removed." My questions: 1) I assume the ground wire is the one furthest from the brass lug. The ground is the leftmost terminal as seen facing an installed element. Is that right? 2) What does "remove" mean? Can I just re-install the ground wire on the new element as it was on the old and then use the two screws provided for the mounting plate? Or.... do I have to somehow physically remove and/or terminate the old ground wire? 3) I'm also assuming that the two new screws go in the mounting plate at the back of the oven and that somehow this is sufficient to ground the element. Is that correct? Thanks in advance for your help. Paul
1 Answer Paul, you Do need to remove the ground wire, you'll find that the two self tapping screws(pointed ends) will attach the mount bracket to the oven cavity and provide a more than efficient ground. It's best to remove the ground screw and wire, so there's no mix up in the future. Wiring the element should be identical to the original element. Read More...
Paul P. March 08, 2012 for Model Number Maytag Oven CWE4700BCE First, it is about the electrical broil element, Part AP4283351. Second, it is about the electrical connections to the broil element, specifically about attaching the two wires with the loop on the end (not the push on electrical connectors). These electrical connections attach with a screw. Where do they attach on the replacement electrical broil element that pro appliance parts sent me recently? That is the question I need answered. You responded with “Hello Paul. You are describing the broil element support AP4047846. This part has been discontinued by the manufacture and is no longer available. Hope this helps.” This response missed the question I was asking. Here is my original message from yesterday. Can you help me with my need? “Element, Broil, Part AP4283351. We bought our oven in Oct. 1994. The replacement element I ordered from you has an extra sheet metal brace with a threaded screw hole connecting the middle two of the four rods, near where the wires connect. This is visible on the parts diagram. In the original installation, the two wires with a loop on the end that connect with a screw are both screwed together onto the brass colored connector that is bent at a right angle. Here are my questions. With the replacement element, does one of the wires with the loop on the end screw onto the brass colored connector, as in the original installation, and the second wire with a loop on the end screw into the threaded screw hole on the sheet metal brace connecting the middle two of the four rods? I think this is what I am reading on the instruction sheet, but I am not sure. A diagram would be very helpful here. Or, do both wires with a loop on the end screw onto the brass colored connector that is bent at a right angle as in the original connection? In this case the sheet metal connector for the two middle rods is just there for structural stability. Also, are the two wires with a loop on the end that connect with a screw the ground wires? Any help you can give me would be appreciated.”
1 Answer Hello Paul. The red wire goes on brass, tan wire in middle and yellow wire on other side of the element WPY04000048. Hope this helps. Read More...
