Chris This is more of a answer to make it easier on anyone else brave enough to take on this task. I have a Maytag and every YouTube video shows the access point to this element is from the inside of the oven .Well of course I have to get the oven that has to be completely taken apart. If facing the unit from the front the right side has to be taken off then the inner shell fold up insulation take the two wire tabs off unscrew screw between two wires then fold down 3" wall carefully but firmly pull out element. VERY POOR design if u ask me.
Answer Chris, Apparently you have the "hidden" bake element version of the range. You forgot to include the model number. But, the hidden element allows for an extended period of operation since the element isn't subjected to the spill overs, and possible damage from the pots, pans, racks, etc. The longevity of the bake element is a "fair" trade-off for the extra effort needed to replace the element. Some manufacturers have begun to use a removable oven bottom panel so accessing the bake element will be a bit easier and simpler. Read More...
