This bake element is the lower heating coil that provides the oven's primary heat during Bake. Replacing a worn or burned-out element restores fast preheats and consistent cooking results in electric ranges/ovens.

  • Provides bottom heat for the Bake cycle to preheat and maintain set temperature
  • Common symptoms: no heat on Bake, very long preheat, uneven/undercooked results, or visible blisters, splits, or burn marks on the element
  • If Broil still heats but Bake does not, the bake element is a likely failure point
Includes: 1 bake element Installation notes:
  • Disconnect power by unplugging the appliance or switching off the circuit breaker
  • Remove oven racks; take out the element's mounting screws, then gently pull the element forward and disconnect the two wire terminals
  • Support the wires to prevent them from slipping back into the rear cavity; position the new element and secure with the mounting screws
  • Restore power and test a Bake cycle

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Bake Element (Lower Oven) (Part Number: OEM18041817)

Adrian, Pull the unit out and remove the rear panel. Once it is off then look for wire connections on the right side while looking at the back of the range. There should be a cover that you would remove and then pull out the element. If there is no cover then the side panel may need to be removed and then you can pull the element out.

Nigel, You will need to remove the main top of the unit to access the screws on top for the side panel. To do this, there should be a couple of screws on the top when you open the oven door. Remove these screws and remove the top. You will then remove the screws on the top of the side panel and slide the panel forward to remove. Double-check to make sure that the bake element does not have an access cover at the bottom of the back of the unit.

Hi there. This whirlpool range has a lower hidden baking element on it but I simply cannot figure out how to access it. There is no inner bottom tray that you can access it by removing two rear screws and I've taken the real panel off of the back and see no way to access it from behind. There is a plate on the bottom of the stove that is held on by 4 screws, but that doesn't allow access either. There doesn't even appear to be any connections on the rear to support a lower baking element. I know the diagram for the oven shows it has one though. Any ideas on how to get to this thing? Any help is appreciated

S. Wilson, Based on the information provided the hidden bake element would be accessed by removing the range side panel.

Jay, the bake element would be accessed from a panel just above the warmer drawer. There will be a screw on each side at the back that would need to be removed. This will allow the bake insulation tray WP8054068 will then be able to drop down and the bake element will be accessible.

Shannon, For this unit, pull the rear cover in the back and see if there is a small cover at the bottom where the bake element would be. This would be where to remove it from. If there is not then it may need to have the side panel removed in order to get it out but should come out from the back.

Hello Brian, check the oven door switch and the oven door latch for proper operation, the failure of either of which can cause the control to stop oven heating.

Brian, The hidden bake element should come out of the back of the oven, remove the rear panel, and then the hidden bake element tray with the element in it.
