Dennis, Yes it is very possible that the water inlet valve could be cracked if it is dripping all the time. You will also want to make sure that the water supply is not what is leaking instead of the valve. If it is leaking only when the unit is running then you will want to check to make sure that the spray arms are not clogged or cracked. This would cause the water to create a wave action that would ripple out of the unit.
