Manufacturer Part Number: 8193506

The Float Switch Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It includes the float and the switch mechanism that monitors and controls the water level inside the dishwasher. The float switch ensures that the dishwasher does not overfill by signaling the water inlet valve to shut off the water supply once the appropriate level is reached.

Causes of a bad float switch can include debris or mineral buildup, wear and tear over time, or electrical failures within the switch mechanism. A malfunctioning float switch can lead to water overfilling, which may cause leaks and inefficient washing performance.

Symptoms of a bad float switch kit include:

  • Dishwasher overfilling with water
  • Water leaks during operation
  • Dishwasher not filling with enough water
  • Error codes related to water levels

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Bob for Model Number KUDE70FVSS3

The water level is not filling to the proper level - never floats the float. I have replaced the water inlet valve and control board and no change. If the water level doesn't get high enough, the sanitize cycle never works as the water level is well below the heater. When I first start the unit, it seems to begin filling for a few seconds, okay, maybe 5-10 secs, then the drain motor starts and it is hard for me to determine if we are still filling when this happens. During the initial cycle, the unit will go back and forth between filling and draining a couple of times. It does get some water into it as I can see water dripping from the dishes above and everything seems wet, but water never gets hot because it fails to reach the heater. I am thinking the float switch is bad since I have swapped out everything associated with getting hot water. I notice the water level wasn't right after I googled how to determine if my dishwasher was filling to the proper amount. Again, replaced the water inlet valve, heater, temp sensor (think this is part of a unit that checks how clean the water is), controller and temp limit switch, even door switch. Running out of things to change, just ordered the float switch. Think this is a good bet? Yes tried rebooting the controller and some insight on how to do this would be great. I unplugged the unit overnight to obtain a reboot.

Answer

Bob, The float switch will be the likely cause with what has already been done. You may want to pull the float to ensure that the float is not cracked or filled with water which will diminish its effect.
