Steve for Model Number whirlpool wed5300vw0 New to me dryer, was taking way too long to dry. It got warm but not hot. Lent screen was fine, blower is good, all sensors and heating element have give results on volt meter. However, there are only two wires going to the heating element. No orange wire and no jumper wire. Could this be the cause? If I just need the jumper wire, is it sold by itself? Steve
Answer Hello Steve. The only way you will need a jumper is if you see 2 terminals open and they are not hooked together on the heater housing. Jumper wires are not available separately. You will only have 1 wire going to your heater. There will be a jumper from the high limit thermostat WP3977767 to the thermal cut off 279816. Then the thermal cut off will have a hot wire coming to the top spade on it. All dryers do not have the orange wire. This is common. Read More...
