Hello Tom, You will need to inspect the hinges for loose screws first since loose hinge screws can cause this issue. You may need to replace the lid bearings WP8546627. There are two of these on the main top. If these are all okay you will most likely have to repalce the left WPW10305277 and right WPW10305278 lid hinge spring assemblies. It is recommended to change both when one is needed. If these are replaced, it is easier to go ahead and replace the lid hinge bearings at this time since they are accessed for replacement by removing the lid hinge arms, which you will have out of the unit to change the lid spring assemblies.
