Deb July 30, 2018 I just reviewed your video for the replacing the “hinge” for the Whirlpool Cabrio top loading h axis washer. It seems pretty easy to replace. When you took off the old hinge it did not look broken. Is it the wear on the surface that causes the hinge to fail? Thank you.

Mike January 15, 2018 I have a D U code on my Whirlpool Cabrio I change the lid lock but the code is still there. The door doesn't close all the way. Can that be the cause of it? Do I have to change the hinges?

1 Answer Hello Tom, You will need to inspect the hinges for loose screws first since loose hinge screws can cause this issue. You may need to replace the lid bearings WP8546627. There are two of these on the main top. If these are all okay you will most likely have to repalce the left WPW10305277 and right WPW10305278 lid hinge spring assemblies. It is recommended to change both when one is needed. If these are replaced, it is easier to go ahead and replace the lid hinge bearings at this time since they are accessed for replacement by removing the lid hinge arms, which you will have out of the unit to change the lid spring assemblies.
