Brian for Model Number WRS526SIAE00 Ice maker stopped producing ice. I replaced the icemaker motor module. This "fix" produced ice and worked for about 2 weeks. The ice maker stopped producing again. Any direction on the next step ? Also, I left the water on - but I then disconnected to coupler at the bottom of the freezer door to verify water was getting to the ice maker - and it is.
Answer Hello Brian, thank you for contacting AppliancePartsPros.com Access the icemaker and get it out to where you can remove the cover from the motor module. Tape the door switch down and make sure the ice ON/OFF switch is in the ON position with the ice bin in place or the ice bin switch taped down so that it sees the ice bin in place. Take a voltage reading from ports L-N on the icemaker head. This should be about 120v AC. If this is present, you've either got a bad ice maker motor module 8201515, or an issue between the icemaker and the fill valve WPW10341320. This could be the harness W10242384 for the icemaker, the harness in the door LW10334261, the non-serviceable harness to the door, or the valve itself. The valve circuit should read about 100-300 ohms roughly, if that's good then the icemaker module is bad. You can check Tan-White on the icemaker harness with it disconnected for that value and trace back from there if it isn't present. If voltage is not present L-N, then you have an issue getting power to the icemaker, in which case you will need to back track and figure out where power is being lost or what is causing it. This could be the harness W10242384 for the icemaker, the harness in the door LW10334261, the non-serviceable harness to the door, the control board W11088499, the ice bin switch W11123943, door switch W11396033, or a bad ice level sensor emitter W11813704 and receiver W10870822 or harness W10411699.
