The Ice Maker is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. It automates the ice production within the freezer, providing a steady and reliable supply of ice cubes.

Causes of a bad Ice Maker can include malfunctioning water valves, clogged filter systems, or issues with the thermostat that affect ice production. Additionally, mechanical failures in the ice ejector arms or the heating mechanism that releases the ice can prevent proper functioning.

Symptoms of a bad Ice Maker include:

  • No ice production or very slow ice production
  • Ice cubes that are smaller or larger than normal
  • Ice that tastes odd or smells bad
  • Loud noises during the ice-making process

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Answer

Doug, there is a testing procedure that can be done from the user interface that will allow for testing the icemaker harvest and the icemaker water fill. What you will want to do before this test is ensure that the icemaker switch behind the ice bin is showing continuity when in the on position and that the bin sensing switch shows continuity when engaged. You will also want to check to ensure that there is not an ice build up in the water inlet tube to the icemaker. This will ensure that the testing from the user interface is as accurate a test as possible. Further information to assist with this testing procedure will be sent to you.
