Mike for Model Number MSC21C6MDM02 The ice maker stopped making ice a while ago. I replaced the whole ice maker and it still didn't work. I called out a repair person and they couldn't figure it out. I was able to do diagnostics, and the thermistor is sending a 2 back, which seems to indicate that either the freezer is too cold, or it is just an open connection. Is the thermistor part of the ice maker? or could it just be bad wiring at this point?
Answer Mike, If you were on test 47 reading the ice maker thermister and had a reading of 2 then yes the thermistor or the harness has failed. At 36 degrees the thermister should read 7.964K ohms of resistance and 0 degrees should read 23.045K ohms of resistance. Testing from the main board will allow you to test through the wire harness to the thermistor so if readings are correct then the control would be your issue. Using the ohms i sent you test at P7-1 and P7-2 for ice maker thermister. refrigerator thermister is P5-1 and P5-2 and freezer is P5-3 and P5-4. Read More...
