Tim for Model Number Maytag MSC21C6MFZ00 I have a 1.5 yr old Maytag side by side with Model # MSC21C6MFZ00. It just stopped making ice this week. There was ice in the tray however the flex tray would not dispense the ice. I removed the cubes from the tray and the tray has not filled up since then. Is something going on in the ice maker that is not triggering it to turn and empty the cubes. Should I replace the ice maker and how do I go about checking with a multimeter?
Answer Tim, it would be recommended that the temperature in the freezer is tested by placing a thermometer into water and allowing it to sit for 24 hours. If the temperature is not less than 10°F, the ice maker will not harvest ice. If it is reaching less than 10°F, the next step would be identifying if there is a broken wire at the door hinge. If good, the bin switch would need to be tested for continuity when pressed as it should have continuity at that time. If good, the failure would likely be in the ice maker W10873791. Read More...
