Drew S for Model Number WRX988SIBM01 Water is leaking from the ice maker. Ive replaced the water valve twice to no avail. when i turn the ice maker off the water leaking stops. will i just need a new ice maker or is there more underlying problems? or is there a simpler fix than that?
Answer Drew, a couple of checks to make first. Make sure the refrigerator is level in both directions, then check the ice maker for level. Ice makers aren't "sealed" units and can leak if water accumulates at one end or the other. Check the water supply pressure at the connection on the back of the refrigerator. Recommendations would be 32-35 PSI at the back of the refrigerator. Water pressure that's too high or too low can cause an issue. and make sure the refrigerator water supply isn't attached to a reverse osmosis filter system. If all's OK, then replace the ice maker.
