Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Icemaker (Part Number: OEM21556557)

Hello Jeremy, and thank you for your question. The water valve at the back of the appliance would need to be tested for 120 Volts AC. If it is not receiving voltage, both the dual valve WPW10341329 and the main inlet valve W10865826 would need to be replaced. If there is voltage, the main control WPW10589838 would be the likely cause of failure.

L, the new ice maker W11577195 should include a wire harness that will be used to replace the original ice maker harness from the ice maker to the refrigerator harness connection. In many cases, the original harness attached to the ice maker motor module will not match up to the new module connections.

Karl, it would be recommended that the ice maker section be tested for temperature. It should be colder than 10°F. If it is, the next step would be identifying if the ice maker is filling properly. If it is not, the most likely cause of failure would be the valve WPW10341329.

Dennis B, Based on the information provided I don't know of an issue that would allow the ice maker to work for 18 months or so and then cause it to go out other than the part failure.

Hello Scott, since you have the Tech Sheet for testing, run tests 15,19,36,37,56, note: codes in test 56 will be cleared if the ref is unplugged even for a short time. If all checks pass, you will need to check the temperature in the ice maker area and it has to be between 0-10 deg.

Jps Appliance for Model Number WRF736SDAM14

Ice maker stopped making ice. I ordered Icemaker W11577195 / AP7185516 to replace it. The wiring harness that came with the replacement doesnt match what is in the fridge to hook up to. I separated the two loose white wires from the harness and ran them directly to the two loose wires from fridge. I hooked the existing fridge plug directly into the new ice maker (taking the new harness out of the loop completely). It makes ice but does not dump. Actually it did dump once after 48 hours, but hasnt since. I assume its electrical as the wires from the existing plug from the fridge dont match exactly with what was left in the harness after removing the two separate white wires. Is there a solution to this? I assume my model is older than the replacement ice maker I received. Thanks for any assistance.

JP's Appliance, According to the model that you have, the correct icemaker would be W11658802. It looks like you have the wrong one.

If the test shows good and temperatures are correct, you would want to replace the entire icemaker assembly W11658802. If there continues to be an issue the main control WPW10675033 may have an issue.
