Alejandro Big Hands for Model Number Maytag Performa PYGT244AWW The video seems much easier, for the igniter is located in a more accesible place. In my dryer, the igniter seems almost unaccesible. There is no way for me to put my hand, a wrench, or a nut driver in. Is there a way to remove the big cylinder inside which the igniter is?
Answer Alejandro, Yes, the burner cone can be removed, but it's easier to remove the gas valve assembly. 1. Disconnect the unit from the power source. 2. Remove the front panel. 3. Turn the shut off valve to the "OFF" position to stop the flow of gas to the control valve. 4. Loosen the large brass union nut located directly below the gas control valve. 5. Remove the screw which attaches the gas control valve and burner bracket assembly to the front roller support leg. 6. Lift up slightly on the front of the assembly to disengage the burner bracket tabs from the support leg. 7. Withdraw the assembly from the front. Disconnect the wire harness and fully withdraw the assembly. You'll have access to everything associated with the gas valve and ignition procedure. Read More...
