Timothy E Bellvue , CO September 15, 2019 Appliance: Maytag Dryer Cabinet-Gas MCG8000AWQ Our Maytag gas dryer was not producing heat— specifically it was cycling off after initially lighting When I pulled out the dryer from the wall, I could see dust/lint had accumulated everywhere and the vent system was compromised. I vacuumed up the dust/lint accumulation outside and then inside the vent system. I then opened the lower cabinet to clean and check its condition. I removed the water steamer bottle and its sub-assembly and then the drum. After cleaning and inspecting components — both visually and with a multi-meter I determined the problem was the appliance doing what it was designed to do. It was shutting off because of restricted flow out the vent caused by dust/lint accumulating. I further confirmed this by returning power and switching the dryer on with the cabinet still open and the drum still removed. I could observe the igniter heating to a glow and then the gas valve delivering fuel followed by ignition. I ran the unit for approximately a minute to see if it would cycle off or continue. It operated normally. I replaced the drive belt on the drum as part of routine service as the appliance cabinet was open and it was due. I redesigned and installed a new vent system to prevent problems in the future. It was a three-hour job in addition to the dryer work of an hour. I ordered a number of parts to have on hand as I generally perform my own repairs. I found the information on your website to be helpful in determining which parts to the stock based on the problems others had and your troubleshooting information. I also want to compliment you on your prices as I found other sources charging twice the amount for the same part. Shipping was fast and as advertised. I have you listed as my source for major appliance parts. Kim C Orland , IN September 27, 2016 Appliance: Model LNC8764A741 Ignitor developed a weak spot and the dryer did not heat up during tumbling First, I diagnosed the faulty part - this had happened with a previous gas dryer so it was simple to assume the igniter was out. - I unplugged the appliance, opened the front of the dryer and removed the old igniter and saw it was damaged. Then I ordered the part online from Appliance PartsPros.com on a Friday and the part arrived on a Saturday. Before installing the new part, I swept out any lint and dust residue with a vacuum hose to avoid connection malfunctioning prior to installing the new part. Finally I replaced the new igniter where the old one had been removed - and the dryer is heating up and functioning properly Read More... 5 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
William T New Franklin , OH September 26, 2015 Older maytag gas dryer not heating 18 yr old Maytag gas dryer wouldn't dry clothes. Igniter would power on, gas valve would open and flame would start but within 30 seconds, flame would go out and cycle would repeat continuously. Replaced gas valve solenoids and igniter (while I'm in there). Started dryer up, same exact problem! Thermal cutout on flame box was opening (getting too hot so not enough airflow/ this is what clued me in to the problem). Checked and cleaned lint from all airflow passages in dryer. Still same problem. Went outside and checked (newish) dryer vent outlet and it was completely blocked! I'm not new to repairing appliances either which is the embarrassing part of this but, hey, sometimes you gotta laugh at your own stupidity! ALWAYS check the simplest things first or it can come back to bite you! Usually by misdiagnosis and having to do more work than necessary to solve the problem. Anyway, no sense in removing new parts now that they have been replaced. As always though, I found and fixed the problem and got there as efficiently as I was able to. Appliance Parts Pros are great! I have ordered parts from them before and they are accurate, inexpensive and timely and sell oem parts. Great resource! Debra P Crown Point , IN June 30, 2014 Appliance: Maytag Gas Dryer PYG2300AWW Maytag dryer not heating real well I did a thorough cleaning and this corrected the problem. But this reminded me that the last time the igniter went out I had forgot to order a spare. So no problem now but I'm ready when it does go out. The last 2 times were at night and laundry had kind of accumulated. Word of advice...ORDER A SPARE IGNITER, YOU WON'T BE SORRY! Read More...
