Lou for Model Number LSR7233EQ0 My Whirlpool Heavy Duty Super Capacity Plus washer does not always advance from one cycle to the next when I use the “Normal” cycle; however, it works just fine on “Permanent Press,” “Delicate,” and “Hand Washables.” When I use the “Normal” cycle, sometimes it will stop (and the clothes just soak in the water) after it finishes the “wash” or “rinse” cycles, and to get it to advance, I have to jiggle the timer knob to get it to go to the next cycle. Also, the “Timer Knob” on my washer (AP6008112/WP3364291) spins freely to the left or to the right—it is not tight at all. Will replacing the timer knob solve this problem, or do I need to do something else? Thank you, Lou
Answer Lou, Based on your post information, you do want to check and make sure the timer knob and skirt aren't cracked, broken or "stripped" on the timer shaft. If they aren't damaged or defective, you will want to start by replacing the timer WP3949339. The internal contacts and gears have deteriorated and aren't aligned properly and causing the problems.
