For Whirlpool Timer Knob (Part Number: OEM18024348)

Lou for Model Number LSR7233EQ0

My Whirlpool Heavy Duty Super Capacity Plus washer does not always advance from one cycle to the next when I use the “Normal” cycle; however, it works just fine on “Permanent Press,” “Delicate,” and “Hand Washables.” When I use the “Normal” cycle, sometimes it will stop (and the clothes just soak in the water) after it finishes the “wash” or “rinse” cycles, and to get it to advance, I have to jiggle the timer knob to get it to go to the next cycle. Also, the “Timer Knob” on my washer (AP6008112/WP3364291) spins freely to the left or to the right—it is not tight at all. Will replacing the timer knob solve this problem, or do I need to do something else? Thank you, Lou

Lou, Based on your post information, you do want to check and make sure the timer knob and skirt aren't cracked, broken or "stripped" on the timer shaft. If they aren't damaged or defective, you will want to start by replacing the timer WP3949339. The internal contacts and gears have deteriorated and aren't aligned properly and causing the problems.

Rena, Pull the timer knob out and grab the shaft with a pair of needle nose pliers and unscrew counter clockwise.

Hello Jeff. Based on the model number you provided, it sounds like the timer is stripped out or the knob is broke. Try pulling the knob and see if it comes off because it is broke.

Casey, We would need to have the model number of the washer to properly assist but it sounds like you have broken the shaft of the timer as the knob normally would just slide over the timer shaft.
