Will for Model Number LST9355BW0 The timer knob on my Whirlpool "Imperial Series" washing machine (model LST9355BW0) no longer turns the timer (p/n 3361171). I've tried unscrewing the knob counter-clockwise when it is clicked in, but it spins freely (no resistance) and does not come off. I'm pretty sure the knob is securely connected to the shaft (not stripped) because I can see the shaft turning when I look at the back of the timer (it goes all the way through) as I turn the knob. I've tried holding the other end of the shaft with needle-nose pliers, but can't get a good enough purchase on the shaft to prevent it from turning. So, a couple questions: 1. How do I get the knob off? 2. Is AP3018866 the replacement knob I need? 3. Will replacing the knob alone will fix the problem, or do I need to replace the timer unit as well? 4. If I need to replace the timer unit as well, is AP3018716 the one I need? Thanks, Will.
Answer Hello Will, The timer knob is a screw on type of knob and should unscrew counter clockwise. It would appear that if the timer knob is not spinning off then the threading may be stripped. You will more than likely have to replace timer and knob. If you are able to get knob off and the timer shaft is not stripped then timer would not be needed. Read More...
